Founded on the principle that caregivers and their loved ones deserve flexibility and compassion, Family Based Care has become a cornerstone of aged care in the region. Family Based Care Cottage Respite
One of our most innovative offerings, Cottage Respite, stands out as a unique and valuable service for both caregivers and care recipients.
A Cottage Respite can provide a more home-like setting, unlike traditional respite offers provided in Aged Care Facilities, with more opportunities for independence and rest for carers and clients near and far depending on the current situation.
The concept of Cottage Respite is simple yet impactful.
It provides a temporary stay in a cottage-style accommodation, where older individuals can relax, socialise, and receive personalised care from trained staff.
For caregivers, this means peace of mind knowing their loved one is in good hands, allowing them to recharge, attend to personal matters, or simply take time for themselves. For care recipients, it’s an opportunity to enjoy a change of scenery, engage in activities, and maintain their well-being.
Our comfortable two-bedroom unit is part of a new build provided in conjunction with The Supported Affordable Accommodation Trust, on acreage with a rural outlook outside of the Burnie CBD, and is designed for overnight or short stay respite up to three nights.
Located in beautiful Burnie on the North West Coast of Tasmania, beside the rolling waves of Bass Strait, this could be the ideal place for you or your loved ones to take a break in a safe and comfortable environment. This location is also near the CBD for opportunities to explore sites such as the Burnie Arts Centre, local cafes and shops within the Burnie Hubs and the Burnie Foreshore.
Intakes for our Respite Cottage are available through immediate contact.
Family Based Care Home Care
At Family Based Care we also provide different opportunities for support depending on your current living situation in the form of Home-Care Packages and Self-Funded Services.
Home Care Services encompass a broad range of support options designed to help older individuals remain in their homes while receiving the care they need. Family Based Care provides these services through two primary channels: Home Care Packages (government-funded) and self-funded care.
Both options are customisable, ensuring that clients receive the right level of support at the right time.
A Home Care Package is government supplied funding for older Australians needing care which includes services that help you live independently in your own home for longer – you choose when, where and how you need support.
Available in four levels—ranging from basic support (Level 1) to high care (Level 4)—these packages provide funding for services such as personal care, nursing, allied health, and domestic assistance. Family Based Care acts as the provider, coordinating and delivering these services to ensure a seamless experience.
If you are eligible for this funding you can use it to access a range of services to help you at home and connect with your community.
Our Care Coordinators will work with you and/or your Advocate to develop a care plan that suits your individual needs. You will receive a copy of the agreed care plan which can be altered at any time if your circumstances change. Formal reviews are also conducted annually to ensure your support needs are being met. In addition, our experienced and friendly staff are available for you to talk to as required.
