As part of the Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP), the Greek Welfare Centre provides entry-level support for older people who need assistance to stay at home and maintain their independence. To support this, we subsidise a range of home care services including help with daily tasks, home modifications, transport, social support and other care.
We realise that most people prefer to stay in their own home for as long as possible and our aim is to assist older Australians (and their carers) to remain living independently in their own homes, to prevent or delay premature entry into aged care facilities, to remain socially connected with their community and enhance their quality of life by providing a safe environment.
Domestic Assistance:
- Providing services in your home to assist with household chores such as cleaning, washing and linen changes.
Home Maintenance:
- Providing assistance with the purpose of maintaining a safe environment outside the home. This may include lawn mowing, light pruning or changing light bulbs.
‘KIPSELI’ Social Support Group:
- Providing culturally appropriate care in a centre-based setting allowing individuals to develop, maintain and support their capacity for independent living and social interaction, reducing anxiety and loneliness. This program provides participants the opportunity to socialise and partake in a wide range of interactive activities designed to keep both the mind and body active.
- Various guest speakers are also invited to promote health, well-being and safety.
- RSVP is essential for catering purposes.
- Some transport assistance may be provided to eligible participants.
Social Support Individual:
- Our Social Support Program aims to assist frail aged people or people with disability to live independently. The program enables people to stay connected to their local communities though participation in social activities.
Respite Care:
- Supporting carers to take a break and have some time to themselves. This allows them the opportunity to maintain their social networks, improve their own health and wellbeing which consequently enables them to be more effective in their caring role. Emergency or ongoing respite is available.
Personal Care:
- Assistance with activities of daily living including showering and grooming.
