Yarrabah Residential & Community Care
Mutkin is a trusted pillar in the Yarrabah community and we pride ourselves in providing culturally and spiritually-sensitive care services. Our model of care incorporates activities which specifically address the needs of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Residential Care
Our people are what really makes Mutkin unique. From the moment you arrive you will experience the caring, friendly and professional atmosphere. Â Our residential facility provides 24 hour care services and is staffed by suitably qualified employees.
Mutkin’s  service delivery model is governed by the new Aged Care Quality Standards and supported by Carelynx Nursing Services for clinical monitoring, 24/7 on call nursing services, onsite clinical leadership and care planning nursing support.  A GP visits the facility once a week, and Allied Health Services visits bi-monthly or upon request.
At Mutkin, we believe it is vitally important to stay engaged with family life and the community. Our passionate team are committed to providing you with a range of activities for you to get involved with every day. Whatever your passion may be, or if there’s something you’re interested in that isn’t on offer, speak with our team who are always excited to hear new ideas and suggestions.
We have an activities planner with daily activities and programs and special occasions that are celebrated at least once each month. Family and friends are invited and encouraged to participate as much as possible in our lifestyle activities. These include cognitive activities including puzzles, cultural and spiritual activities, in-home concerts, day trips, movies, karaoke, NAIDOC activities, pamper days and exercise program. Mutkin also accommodates visiting groups from churches, schools, TAFE colleges, community groups and organisations internal and external to Yarrabah.
Rooms at Mutkin’s are designed with comfortable items to suit our resident’s care needs. We encourage residents to make their rooms as comfortable and homelike as possible. They are welcome to bring in their own bedspread or doona, wall hangings, photographs, a favourite armchair, clock/radio and television.
