Vasey RSL Care Frankston South (formerly RSL Park) is located on Overton Road in Frankston South, at the gateway to the Mornington Peninsula. It is set in extensive grounds with mature trees and a safe, level walking track. The home is mostly on one level and has been designed to ensure that residents’ rooms have views to garden areas and courtyards. There is a peaceful memorial courtyard garden featuring beautiful standard roses. Our Coffee Shop is open Monday to Friday mornings and is run by our fabulous volunteers. This is one of our largest aged care homes, accommodating 120 residents across five regions or wings, known as Kokoda, Kapyong, Flanders, Paxino and Park Lodge.
Vasey RSL Care Frankston South shares the grounds with our Vasey RSL Care Frankston South Ex-Service South Accommodation, units for veterans and war widows of all ages. A regular bus service runs along Overport Road.
Our Residents
Vasey RSL Care is a not-for-profit organisation with a proud history of providing accommodation and support to the ex-service community, ie veterans and war widows. Note that we welcome people from all walks of life – you do not have to be a veteran or war widow to fit in here!
Support for Those with Memory Loss
Kapyong and Flanders are our Memory Support Units, offering a high level of care and support and the latest in care practices for residents with dementia, including Alzheimer’s disease. Our staff are experienced, understanding and kind: they are there to support residents to live in a secure and happy environment. Our memory support care is based on the Birch Pathway Program developed by Dementia Australia to bring choice, meaning and purpose to those living with dementia and work to their strengths and their abilities. The program makes it the role of every person to actively see how they can remodel their own actions and interactions.
Community Ties
Vasey RSL Care Frankston South has valued ties to local schools and colleges, local scouting groups and a community choir, and we greatly appreciate the support they offer our residents.
Ex-Service Ties
Vasey RSL Care has strong ties to many organisations such as local RSL sub-branches, the Vietnam Veterans Association Australia, currently serving ADF members at both Simpson Barracks and HMAS Cerberus, and many other ex-service groups and organisations. The Mornington Peninsula Vietnam Veterans have put on an Australia Day barbecue for many years and have raised funds for our lifestyle program. Our residential homes hold commemoration services for both ANZAC Day and Remembrance Day for residents, family members and staff. All new staff have a full day’s induction training at the Melbourne Shrine of Remembrance so that they have an understanding and appreciation of the background of many of our residents.
