Having a National Helpline is a great responsibility. So many seniors rely on being heard.
It is a great privilege to be able to listen to those who call and actually make a small difference in their lives.
By having a network of wonderful aged care consultants and service providers we are able to problem solve pretty quickly.
We had a call today from an elderly gentleman who is 95 and loves his Carers but after hearing our Helpline number on the local radio station, he reached out to us to provide some social stimulation. He was in real trouble emotionally, within 5 mins I had contacted his Carers and they got straight back to him with social support.
Seniors on their own definitely don’t want to cause trouble or ask for help. In a climate where lack of staff is the norm, rushing in and out, please just stop and ask your client if he is OK?? The difference that question will be make could be life changing.
