Three Tree Lodge is transitioning towards the Household Model of Care – a concept where seniors live in a household of no more than eight people.
The model involves households which include a fully functioning kitchen and laundry, lounge, TV and quiet sitting rooms, dining area and outdoor spaces. Each resident has their own room and ensuite.
There are no long corridors, shared bedrooms or large institutional kitchens. Instead you’ll find welcoming rooms with access to the outdoor courtyards, opportunities to personalise rooms and the very latest bathroom facilities.
Melaleuca House has been architect designed and has utilised the latest research in designing a residential home that is purpose built for people living with dementia. It is designed to encourage meaningful living, reducing loneliness, isolation and boredom.
This small household model has proven to be highly successful in the United States, the Netherlands and in other European Countries. It is designed to break down the traditional style of nursing homes and aged care services – turning to a model that looks and feels like a home.
Our aim is to create comfortable, welcoming spaces that make it evident where you are and which support lifestyle activities for our residents – courtyards with raised beds where residents can enjoy easy gardening activities, dining areas adjacent to kitchens where they can smell the food being prepared.
We warmly welcome you to Melaleuca House – and to our transition towards this new model of care.
