Care in Motion, how can we Help?
Our Community Transport service empowers transport disadvantaged people in our community to be socially engaged and to meet medical appointments where possible, both locally and across the regions including Adelaide.
Additionally, our Aged Care Volunteer Visitor Scheme provides friendship and companionship to older people by matching them with a volunteer who will visit regularly and become a friend.
Supporting the community is at the forefront of everything Care in Motion (CiM) does. As a volunteer involving organisation, we depend on time given by others to support the community and are always welcoming new members.
Care in Motion has a range of Community Transport services available to get people where they need to go. Our transport services are available to all who live in the Yorke and Northern areas. Almost anyone can use our transport service at any age, not just over 65s.
Community Transport
We can drive you in our vehicles, stress free door to door transport. We can transport you for medical, social, or business trips.
Care in Motion can provide a vehicle and driver for you and take some of the stress out of your day. Our driver will pick you up from home and drop you at the door of your destination. After their scheduled break and when you, and any other clients are ready, they will pick you up from your appointment and take you home.
Advance bookings are essential – seven days’ notice minimum is preferred – it is best to book as soon as you receive your appointment.
Appointment times need to be after 10.30am and finished by 3pm for Yorke Peninsula passengers and 10.00am and finished by 2pm for Mid-North passengers (some flexibility is available). If you are unsuccessful in securing these times, please speak to our friendly staff.
Bus Services
Health Bus. We’ll take you on the health bus. If you are on a budget and have a medical or allied health appointment or need to visit someone in hospital, the Health Bus could be the solution for you.
The Health Bus will pick you up from your nearest pickup point and drop you right at the hospital where you can attend your appointment. The bus will then drop you back at your original pickup point.
Travelling up the Yorke Peninsula and to Adelaide daily, or from Port Augusta to Adelaide on Tuesdays the Health Bus has a set fee of $14, $35 or $50 return – depending where you travel from.
Bookings close 12.30pm on the business day prior to travel.
Appointment times need to be after 11am and finished by 2.30pm for Yorke Peninsula passengers and 10.30am and finished by 2pm for Mid North passengers if retuning on the same day.

Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme
The Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme is a free Australian Government initiative that provides friendly volunteers for older people who are at risk of loneliness or social isolation. There are times when people may need help staying connected to the wider community. This can happen whether living in their own homes, or in Aged Care Facilities.
Volunteer visitors bring conversation, news, new interest, and friendship. Visitors may also bring a special connection through a shared language, life experience, or cultural understanding.
To receive a volunteer visitor, you must be over 65 (50 for Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander People) and either be receiving or approved for a My Aged Care Package or living in an aged care facility.
There is no cost to participants in the Scheme.
People can be referred to the Scheme by anyone and could include:
- Their aged care facility or package provider
- A family member
- A friend or neighbour
- Self-referral
Speak to our Aged Care Volunteer Visitor Scheme Coordinator about how you can be a part of this rewarding program.
